Simply put, NIB is a substitute for previous permits that are required by the government to be owned by entrepreneurs. Government Regulation Number 24 of 2018 Article 25 paragraph 1 which discusses Integrated Electronic Business Licensing Services or Online Single Submission (OSS) states that NIB is a business identity and is used by business actors to obtain business permits and commercial or operational permits. Not only replacing all previous business permits, the existence and ownership of this NIB also functions as the following Importer Identification Number or API to facilitate customs access.
The NIB or business registration number is the identity of the business actor issued by the OSS (Online Single Submission) or business licensing institution to be integrated electronically after the entrepreneur has registered. After the entrepreneur obtains the NIB, the NIB also acts as a company registration certificate (TDP), Import Identification Number (API) and customs access if the entrepreneur wants to carry out export or import activities. Every entrepreneur is required to have an NIB in order to carry out business activities in accordance with their respective fields.
